About the Author
Apart from novel writing, most of my life is dedicated to college and living history.
Currently I am working towards my elementary teaching degree with the
ultimate goal being a PhD in History.  I spend much of my spare time involved in
Civil War Reenacting with our local club, the R.A.C.W. (Reenactors of the
America Civil War).  This season is my first year in the role of female soldier, a
portrayal I have wanted to do for years.  I am currently serving with the 1st Texas
Infantry but plan on joining the 42nd Virginia next season.  Prior to that I was a
Southern Refugee (the inspiration for The Orphan Child) and taught textiles and
clothing history during events.

I also enjoy reading and music. My favorite books are The Lord of the Rings by
Tolkien and the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.  I am partial to classical
music but also enjoy movie soundtracks and scores, particularly Alan Menken,
Howard Shore and Hans Zimmer.

MAJOR UPDATE:  The Happy Valley event (May 21st - 23rd) has been CANCELLED due to
conflicts with the co-sponsor.  Thank you for your understanding and support and I will keep you
updated when the event is planned for next year.

Wow, it has been forever since I checked this site.  I have been very busy with school and work,
leaving little time for this site.  I still plan to keep it up for as long as it serves it purpose.  Sadly, it
is doing everything except what it was originally intended for: promoting my (yet to be published)
books.  Oh well, at least I have an area on the Web to post information about our reenactments.
Updated the Shasta College and Happy Valley (previously Anderson) pages with the 2010 dates
and information.

Apologies again for such downtime between updates.  Now that I am finished with my summer
classes, I can dedicate more time to the site.  I'll be starting at CSU Chico in the Fall and working
with AmeriCorps in after school programs for children.  Upcoming events are Shingletown
(August 8th), Fortuna (September 18th - 20th) and Happy Valley (October 16th - 18th).  Expect
regular updates between now and then.

Have been incredibly busy with school work and planning for the coming reenacting season.  We
have just finished our tactical at Shasta College, which was a great success (apart from less that
cooperative weather).  I am on the search for pictures of that event and will put them up as soon
as I find them.  I have finally tracked down my camera and added pictures of the 2008
Anderson/Happy Valley event.  Those are now available in the gallery.

Added another page to the site for our Shasta College event.  This year it consists of our club
tactical and a student day, but in the following years we want to expand it to a week-long
cultural/historical event.  The link is available in the side navigation bar.

We are now well into winter quarters (reenacting off-season) and I'm finally making changes to
the site.  I lost my files for the site on my flash drive so I've had to piece the site together again
from scratch.  That's why there's been no updates for two months.  Since I am now Education
Rep for the RACW and into my spring semester of college, I'll update when I can.

Well I recently lost my flash drive, which had all my files for the web page.  I am now working on
recreating all the pages from the current pages online.  It may look a little different, but I'm trying
to match it as closely as I can.

Finally having a lull in school work, I made some updates to the site's gallery.  Includes pictures
of the Hunley Exhibit and Fortuna, Shingletown and Moore Park event.  Pictures of the
Anderson/Happy Valley event soon to come.

Forgive the lack of updates but school and planning for the Anderson event have dominated
most of my time. Some rather cool news today.  We gathered another $100 sponsorship for the
Hunley exhibit and I got some more toys for reenacting. I got an actual cap box donated to me
from the Civil War!  It is in very good condition and it contained a bullet removed from the owner's
leg.  Unfortunately, little is known about the previous owner.  Also, my friend Barry gave me a
pistol since I will be a First Sergent next season.
Updated the Sponsors Page with the businesses that helped with the Hunley exhibit.

Some very exciting news for the Anderson event today.  We have reserved a working, full scale
model of the H.L. Hunley!  This was the famous Confederate submarine that sunk near
Charleston, S.C. in 1864.  I have read many stories on the sub and I am so excited to actually
see this presentation.  This is as close to the original as we can see (the original carefully
preserved in South Carolina).  We have it for a week to promote the Anderson event and
members of the Hunley team will be sharing their expertise on the sub's history and legacy.  It
will be touring the Redding, CA area the week prior to the Anderson event.  I will take pictures and
post them here as soon as I can.  More information on the Hunley exhibit and locations are
available here.
Also added a counter and comment area to the main page

The final edits are finished on Orphan Child and the printing process with begin soon (hopefully).
I am still waiting for the illustrations to be completed for the book, probably by late September.  I
have seen the finished drawings and oh, they are gorgeous!  A thousand thanks to Steve Klein
for his help and standing by me through the million and one story changes I made.  I added a
summary of the book on the Trilogy page and an excerpt for you all to enjoy.  I expect the book to
be ready for sale by the end of the year.
I am also working on graphics for the Red Skelton page, so stay tuned for those.

A quick update today. Added a new page to the site, my special tribute to comedian Red Skelton.
Go check it out, now linked on the main side bar.  Also an early Happy 4th to all.  I'm leaving for
the Graeagle event on Friday.  Hope its not cancelled due to the fires.

I just returned from an event at Joseph Stewart Park up in Oregon. It was loads of fun.  We were
camped in the day use area of the park and had the opportunity to go through the main
campground during the evenings talking with the visitors.  I was part of the medical operation on
Sunday and that was fun.  I look forward to going back next year.  The next event is
Graeagle/Mowhawk Valley on Fourth of July weekend put on by the CCWR.
I also updated the Civil War Events page with 2008 events.  More to come.

Super cool news today.  Yesterday I was able to purchase an authentic Civil War coin!  Its a
Yankee 1864 two cent shield coin.  It was only a $20 investment but the emotional and
educational value is priceless.   The Anderson event is coming along nicely and updates will
come to those pages in the coming months.

The newly refurbished site is now available online.
